Advice if I should use Shinobi or proprietary Solution e.g. Netgear Arlo

I need to secure a door and I was looking for a camera without cable and rechargeable battery. The Netgear Arlo system provides this. https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Security-Wireless-Rechargeable-VMS4230P/dp/B075P84FH2/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1527723866&sr=1-7&keywords=netgear+arlo
Now I am not sure if I could run this camera with Shinobi. (Or do you know of another camera with battery which would work with Shinobi?) Also I am not sure which advantage I would have if I run this with Shinobi? (Maybe save money? Control which data gets into the cloud?) I mean would the features of the camera maybe be restricted by using Shinobi instead of the proprietary devices? (They also offer a light device which I could couple with the camera and control via app https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Wire-Free-Resistant-Rechargeable-Multi-colored/dp/B07BZMM3WJ/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1527724125&sr=1-3&keywords=arlo%2Blights&th=1)
Sorry for being such a noob. Hope you can help me a bit finding out what I need. I am really not sure if I should use Shinobi or buy something proprietary....
oh and what small device could you recommend for running Shinobi on?
