[CLOSED] Recording width, height options missing
ecoutinho last edited by moeiscool
I've installed Shinobi on CentOS, using the git procedure. I've added a monitor and then noticed that the recordings are all 640x480 no matter the size of the source. Listing the processes I see that there is an option for ffmpeg set at that size:
ffmpeg ... -vcodec libx265 -r 1 -an -s 640x480 -vf ...
According to the Monitor Settings docs, there should be an option for 'Record Height' and 'Record Width', but these do not show up when I edit a monitor. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.
sorry about that. This is a typo bug and i will be a doing a giant push for a whole bunch of fixes in the coming days.
The way to work around it at this time would be to set the video codec to
libvpxthen you will see the height and width along with FPS.
Once happy with your settings switch back to libx265.
I should warn you though x265 is a serious CPU buster. I have added some hardware accel options if they are available to you i would suggest trying them.
If you wish to try hwaccel, before switching please check this over http://shinobi.video/articles/2017-09-01-adding-a-gpu-card-does-it-help

Thanks, the workaround worked fine! x265 does use too much cpu. If I use 'copy', top shows ffmpeg at 20% cpu. When I change it to x265, it jumps to 200%. Space required per minute, drops from 15MB to less than 2MB though.
try taking a look at this article, you may be able to get a decent file size with copy
